What a difference a day makes? 86.5kgs

 Sunday 86.5kgs

Amazing how different I feel today.  There are two reasons for that.  Yesterday Morning I felt really bad, mentally and physically.  Late morning Mike wanted to go out for a ride on the tandem.  I really didn't want to go, but we hadn't ridden since last Sunday so I felt I should.  So off we went and I had some new shorts on which caused a few teething problems so we had to come back.  Eventually it was sorted and off we went.  It was glorious and I really, really enjoyed it as I normally do, even when I don't want to go initially.  We did 57kms and I felt really good during and after.  There is no doubt that exercise is like a drug and is much better for you than any other chemical intervention.  I also was able to fast for 19 hours easily and I could have probably gone beyond that but I wasn't expecting it so I hadn't planned for it.  As you can see from my stats at the top it didn't matter because I was down .5kg from yesterday.                  So that is reason 1

Reason 2 is that last night I started listening to The Fasting Method podcast which is Megan Ramos and Nadia Pateguana and Jason Fung.  It is absolutely brilliant.  So much good advice and good science.  I learned so much.  Not least how to use training wheels to get into longer fasts.  So for instance when I get those horrible cravings and the stressful feelings of needing to eat something then it is acceptable to have something small to help me go longer but only for a limited time.  So I am going to try a spoonful of butter or coconut oil or maybe a Bovril drink which is a bit like Bone Broth.  I haven't got the will to make bone broth so a Bovril will do.  I feel so positive about being able to go at least 24 hours if not longer if I could do this to get me past the dreadful feelings of deprivation and deserving.  Another thing they said which was just so amazing for me is that coffee can spike your Cortisol which of course only a week or so ago I blogged about as I was getting real spikes of something from drinking coffee.  It is only when I am exercising on the bike that the spike from coffee doesn't affect me.  One thing I will agree with Gin Stevens on is that I definitely am an experiment of one.  I am slowly finding my way through this and finding out what works for me.  They also state that for weight loss the only way is very small windows of eating time.  So 22/2 or literal OMAD is the way.  Also 36-42 hour fasts are hugely beneficial.  I am going to do this.  There is no reason why I can't.  Especially now I have the training wheel tip.  I MUST keep drinking water.  At least 2 litres and more if possible.

My Blessings

Lou, Olivia and Niamh have booked flights to come over for a couple of days on 18th June and I am so looking forward to that.

I am blessed that I have sufficient money that I can pay for them to come.

I am grateful that Mike and I have the tandem so that we can have the adventures we have several times a week.
